Holy Molars

I knew that Owen had been teething for a while now, so he finally let me have a peek into his mouth. The poor guy has all four molars coming in at once! The two on top are barely poking through and the two on bottom are on verge of popping through. I'm hoping that this is the reason for his insane crabbiness today. And the fact that he had to sleep with me out on the couch last night.

We were stuck in the house pretty much all day because of snow which I think attributed to Owen's irritability. We got a couple of inches of snow this afternoon and are supposed to get a total of 8-10 inches by morning. Hopefully everyone's in a better mood tomorrow and we can go out and play.

For some reason I thought today would be a good day to try and take some Valentine's Day pictures. I have no idea what I was thinking. I bought a big heart lollipop to let Owen play with and eat for pictures, but as soon as I handed it to him he threw it on the floor. Of course it cracked and we weren't able to open it. He crumpled or tore up all the hearts that we made and was just a grump. I managed to get a few pictures that we might be able to use though.

Crazy Weather

The crazy weather has arrived. The day started out beautifully, it ended up getting up to 71 in the afternoon. The wind started coming in and was super strong by late afternoon. Owen and I ran into Target with light jackets on and came out to find sleet! We made a quick stop into Lowe's and came out to find giant snowflakes falling. It dropped 20+ degrees in a matter of hours! That's St. Louis weather for you.

On another note, the flu has hit Mike now. He came home from work around noon and we haven't seen much of him since he's been asleep pretty much of the day. He has the same symptoms that I had, so hopefully he gets better soon.

60 degrees in January!

What a beautiful day today! It's been so cold and dreary lately that this change of weather was a nice surprise. I got home and we all headed outside. Owen had fun running around the backyard and playing on his jungle gym. I think he was just happy to be outside without being afraid of freezing.

Weekend Away

This weekend was my first night away from Owen! My mommy friends have been planning a girl's weekend and it was so much fun. Is it wrong that I didn't really miss Owen? The weekend went by so quickly that I didn't even have time to miss him. I was happy to see him today, but the weekend was a much needed break.

Happy 15 Months Old!

Owen is 15 months old today! He's been changing and learning so much lately, it's amazing. He's becoming a much better eater, I think he was just going through a phase and showing his independence. Some of his newest words include baby, bubbles, no, and yes. He is definately a stubborn little guy and can let you know when he's not getting his way. He can be completely sweet and affectionate when he wants to be too. Lately he's been giving lots of hugs and blowing kisses.

Since I was sick, Mike took Owen to his doctor's appointment. He was 32.5 inches (75%) and 21 lbs 13 oz (20%). Everything else looked fine and hopefully we won't have to go back until his 18 month appt.

Worst Mommy of the Year Award

Yes, I am the newest recipient of the Worst Mommy of the Year Award. So I have the flu and Mike arranged for his mom to come over and stay with Owen so that I could take a nap. I was getting Owen's lunch ready and realized that Bailey needed to go outside. Our back gate was completely open for some reason, so I thought I'd run out there quickly and close it. Bad idea. The back door somehow locked itself and I got locked out of the house. Yes, Owen was still sitting in his highchair.

Meanwhile, Mike's mom pulls up and sees me freaking out. I was running from the front door to the back door to see if I could somehow get inside the house. It's about 20 degrees outside, I'm sick, wearing only pajama pants and a shirt, crying, and trying to get in my house. I finally talked to my dad who had an extra key. I ended up grabbing a wooden stake and busting the window out of the door minutes before my dad got there. Owen was sitting in his highchair crying, signing for more food.

After I finally put Owen down, I got to take a nap which was nice. That's my drama for today.

Fun with his toys

Owen normally has an attention span of a gnat when it comes to his toys. He generally moves from one thing to another as quickly as he can, constantly tossing things aside. This afternoon, he was completely intrigued by his Little People Farm set though. He was moving the animals in and out of the barn, moving them around the ground, throwing them into the silo and taking them out, etc. This went on for at least 30 minutes, which is a huge amount of time in Owen's world. It was so cool to watch him actually "playing" rather than going through toys like a tornado. My baby is growing up.

Check out my dress

I finally got a sewing machine for my birthday and have been playing around with it. I'm thinking about trying to sell some of the bows, dresses, chalk mats, etc that I've made. I made Owen model the dress, but I unfortunately did not take a picture. Maybe I'll put him in it again to get a few pics :) I was laughing so hard at him in it that he was starting to laugh. It was too funny to see him running around the living room in a dress. Mike is worried that I'm confusing our boy, I think he'll be fine.

The dress is super cute on (even on a boy!)

Then and Now

The last post got me thinking about when we first me all of the other babies and how much they've all changed and grown since then. I wish I would have had my camera the first few times at St. John's. Caleb, Rylynn, and Owen were barely 3 months old then and now they're running around, beating each other up!

Playdate at Caleb's

We finally got together with Melissa and Caleb after all the holiday madness settled down. Melissa had stuff to make pita bread pizzas which Owen loved. Rylynn, Caleb, and Owen all had a great time playing in Caleb's new playroom.

I love Owen's expression in the last picture. It's so entertaining watching them play together now, they actually interact. A little. Ok, it's usually to take a toy or push someone down, but still.

Sleeping

I'm not sure what Owen does in his sleep, but this is how I found him when I went to check on him tonight:

Happy New Year's!

Happy New Year's to everyone! We had a pretty low-key New Year's Eve this year, but we had fun. We all headed out to the Lee's house to hang out and ring in the new year. Their neighbor is slightly obsessed with fireworks, so at midnight, they had a huge fireworks display. Too bad Owen had been passed out for several hours by this point, because he would have loved it. Aside from the fact that we had to stand outside in the freezing cold, we had a lot of fun watching.

Here are a few pics of Owen's New Year's celebration:
